40nchic is a home grown label started by me, Vidisha Pal. The love for textiles, different art forms and handwork is ingrained. It began with my mother, Uttora Ratna's, own enterprise which was named Style. Growing up I saw a workshop run from our house with more than a dozen skilled craftsmen working under her. The ready to wear classy ensembles were extremely popular at a time when the country didn't know anything about what 'readymade' meant.
Alongside this, my father, Ranjit Ratan's innovative venture in the 80's, which was a fast food joint on a modified mobile truck, was a rage. After which came a flourishing multi cuisine restaurant.
I was fortunate to have learnt a lot from both my parents. I hope 40nchic lives up to the legacy created by them and is also an inspiration to all entrepreneurs who choose to give flight to their dreams... leaving behind footprints on the sands of time for others to cherish and learn from.
